Emergency Medicine Requirements
Qualified applicants are invited for interviews from October through December.
Applications are accepted only through the Electronic Residency Application
Service (ERAS). The program does not offer PGY-1 positions outside of
the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP).
Criteria for Granting Interviews to Applicants
- Graduated from a US or International medical school in the allotted curriculum time.
- Graduated from medical school a maximum of 2 years before anticipated start date
- Completed US Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE/COMLEX) Step 1. Applicants
must also have passed USMLE/COMLEX II (CS and CK) before starting residency.
- Presentation of at least three letters of recommendation.
- For International Medical Graduates, a valid Educational Commission for
Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) certificate.
- In the interview, applicants are rated with respect to verbal ability,
professional demeanor and interpersonal skills.
- Following the interview and the review of all pertinent information including
medical school documents, USMLE test scores and letters of recommendation,
a decision is made to rank or not rank an applicant. For each of the seven
PGY-1 positions, there are at least 70 applicants interviewed.
