Since 1934, Kern Medical has been training residents and
health care professionals in our community.

Application Process

The Kern Medical Obstetrics & Gynecology residency program is a four-year ACGME-accredited program. The program matches four PGY-1 residents each year. The Kern Medical Obstetrics & Gynecology residency program participates in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP). All applications are handled through ResidencyCAS.

Recruitment Timeline and Information

  • ResidencyCAS opens and will have an application deadline of September 25, 2024.
  • All interview offers will be released on October 29, 2024.
  • Interview offers will be limited to the number of interview spots.
  • Applicants will have 48 hours to schedule their interview once the invitation has been sent. Scheduling will be done directly through ResidencyCAS.
  • Interviews occur no earlier than November 1, 2024
  • Any remaining interviews or canceled interviews will be offered on an on-going basis until filled.
  • Interview dates:
    • Monday, November 18, 2024
    • Thursday, November 21, 2024
    • Monday, December 9, 2024
    • Thursday, December 12, 2024
    • Monday, January 5, 2025
    • Thursday, January 9, 2025
  • All applicants will be informed of their application status by November 27, 2024
  • All interviews will be held virtually.
  • Our specialty will be continuing Program Signaling
  • All interviews will be conducted virtually. Any documents that require the applicant’s signature, sample schedules, etc, will be sent through ERAS.
  • We do not offer “second looks”
  • The program understands that technical difficulties can occur during virtual interviews

2025 Match Application Review

There are four PGY-1 positions available. Applications received after October 1st will be considered for waitlist status only.

Applications must contain the following to be considered:

  • Common Application to include your CV
  • Personal Statement
  • One Standardized Letter of Evaluation (SLOE)
  • We require three letters of recommendation (your SLOE can be one of them), at least one letter should be from an Ob/Gyn who knows you the best.
  • Standardized Test Scores (USMLE and/or COMLEX) Step 1. Applicants must also have passed USMLE and/or COMLEX Step II (CS and CK) before starting residency.
  • Medical School Transcripts
  • MSPE

The Kern Medical Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program will review each complete application and select individuals who will be invited for an interview.

Additional Information

Virtual Meet and Greets with our Residents are hosted once per month in November, December and January.

Post-Interview Communication

We kindly ask all applicants to refrain from sending Thank You Cards. While we appreciate the sentiment, these do not influence our rank list decisions, and we encourage you to save the time, paper, and cost involved.
