Pharmacy Acceptance Requirements

Special Requirements for Acceptance:

Applicants to Kern Medical’s PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency program must be graduates or candidates for graduation of an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accredited Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree program (or one in process of pursuing accreditation). Applicants must be licensed, or eligible for licensure, as a pharmacist in the State of California (it is strongly recommended that both the NAPLEX and the California Pharmacy Jurisprudence Exam be taken before July 1st as residents must be licensed within 90 days of starting residency to avoid delays in graduation).

Applicants must submit their complete application submitted via Pharmacy Online Residency Centralized Application Service (PhORCAS) and include the following:

• An official transcript from the School of Pharmacy
• Current Curriculum Vitae
• Letters of Recommendation (3)
• Letter of Intent (optional)

Residency Applicants must participate in the National Residency Match administered by National Matching Services, Inc. (NMS) and agree to abide by rules for ASHP Pharmacy Residency Matching Program (available at:https://www.ashp.org/-/media/assets/professional-development/residencies/docs/resident-matching-rules.ashx?la=en). Kern Medical Pharmacy Residency Program Director, Preceptors, and all staff members at Kern Medical also agree to adhere to these rules and agree that that no person at this site will solicit, accept, or use any ranking-related information from any residency applicant.

Deadline for PGY-1 applications is January 2, 2024
