About Dr. Munoz
Dr. Munoz, who began life as a preemie born at Kern Medical, has a rich background of experience as a specialist in pulmonary and critical care.
Dr. Munoz offers a full array of services such as bronchoscopies, pulmonary function and stress testing, and inhalation diagnosis and therapy. He treats sleep apnea, pulmonary hypertension, occupational lung disease, interstitial lung disease, asthma, and COPD.
He completed his undergraduate studies in biochemistry at Bakersfield College and UC Davis and received his medical doctor degree from UC Davis School of Medicine. He completed his internship and his residency in internal medicine at Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center and additionally held a fellowship there.
At Kern Medical he has served as Director of Pulmonary Disease, Respiratory Therapy, Pulmonary Bronchoscopy Service and the Bronchoscopy Lab. He was Director of Medical ICU for 10 years and Vice Chairman of the Department of Medicine for 19 years. He served in the private practice Pulmonary and General Internal Medicine Kern Faculty Medical Group for 20 years. He has been recognized three times as Kern Medical Outstanding Teacher.
He is a member of the American Association for Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology, the World Association of Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology, and the Society of Critical Care Medicine.
Dr. Munoz has been involved in numerous community organizations such as the Lung Association, Better Breathers Club, Kiwanis Club, Filipino American Service Team, and Cancer and Valley Fever Support Groups. He enjoys time at home with his family playing board games, volleyball, basketball and croquet. He also likes going to the movies and supporting his wife in local ballroom dance organizations.
