About Dr. Stewart-Hayostek
Dr. Carol Stewart-Hayostek is a Board Certified Family Practice Physician. She came to Bakersfield from UCLA Family Health Center in Los Angeles. Dr. Stewart-Hayostek was also a Health Sciences Associate Clinical Professor at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA in the Department of Family Medicine. At Skirball Hospice, Dr. Stewart-Hayostek serves as the Associate Medical Director. She was also the Assistant Professor of Clinical Family Medicine and the Medical Director of South Central Family Health Center at the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine.
Dr. Stewart-Hayostek worked as the Residency Program Director at the Bassett-St. Elizabeth Family Medicine Residency. Prior to that, she served as the Interim Director, and Associate Director. She worked as an Emergency Room Physician at the Faxton Hospital, St. Elizabeth Hospital, and Little Falls Hospital in New York. She also has worked as a Nursing Home Attending Physician.
Dr. Stewart-Hayostek has been a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians since 1984. She is also a former member of the National Conference of Student and Resident Members of AAFP, the New York State Academy of Family Physicians, an the NYSAFP Congress of Delegates, among numerous other committees and societies. She is a certified instructor in both Neonatal Resuscitation and Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics. She plays an active role in the community as a Girl Scout Troop Leader and volunteer at the Venice Family Clinic and Student-run Homeless Clinics. She has received various awards including the NYSAFP Certificate of Appreciation, the Distinguished Faculty Award, the Mother Bernadine Award, and the Family Medicine Faculty of the Year award.
