About Dr. Swaroop
Dr. Mamta Swaroop is a Board Certified General and Critical Care Surgeon at Kern Medical. Dr. Swaroop attended Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology. She then attended medical school at University of Texas at Houston Health Science Center and completed her training as a General Surgery Resident at the University of South Florida. She then completed a Surgical Critical Care Fellowship at Northwestern University, in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Swaroop also functioned as a visiting fellow in India at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences.
Dr. Mamta Swaroop is a dynamic, collaborative, and visionary academic global trauma surgery leader. She has been an invited national and international visiting professor and keynote speaker, presenting on trauma and global surgery topics and has authored over 60 peer-reviewed research articles and book chapters. At Kern Medical, Dr. Swaroop performs Trauma, Acute Care, and Critical Care procedures in both pediatric and adult patients.
Engaged in the community, Dr. Swaroop serves on national and international leadership boards. Most recently, she co-chaired the inaugural Women in Medicine Symposium at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and co-founded the Women in Medicine Summit: An Evolution in Empowerment in Chicago. With a passion for equity and justice, she is spearheading implicit bias training for healthcare providers around the globe. Outside of work, she enjoys international travel, writing poetry, gardening, and Pure Barre.
