The UCLA-Kern Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship offers a dynamic and versatile environment in which fellows pursue their academic interests in addiction psychiatry while experiencing community psychiatry in both rural and urban settings.
Fellows spend six months with Kern Medical/Kern Behavioral Health and Recovery Services (formerly known as KCMH) and the opposite 6 months of training at Greater Los Angeles System of Care Veterans Administration. The UCLA-Kern fellows are integrated into and participate fully in the addiction psychiatry fellowship at West LA VA addiction psychiatry fellowship program during their rotation in Los Angeles.
The UCLA-Kern Psychiatry Program has developed a countywide telepsychiatry network recognized by the State of California as a model for an integrated telemedicine program. The UCLA-Kern addiction psychiatry fellows will have a wide range of richly diverse experiences of addiction psychiatry in outpatient services, child and adolescent clinics, correctional medicine, patient centered homes, consultation psychiatry and emergency psychiatry, as well as research opportunities.
