What:
Kern Medical is hosting an interactive open house seminar highlighting how engineering, robotics and technology are impacting the future of medicine and healthcare right here in Kern County. Featured at this event will be live demonstrations with the new da Vinci surgical robot, which is used to perform a variety of surgeries on patients including bariatric, gynecology, hernia and urology surgery. The da Vinci is powered by robotic technology that allows surgeon hand movements to be converted into smaller, precise movements of tiny instruments inside a patient’s body. The da Vinci includes a small camera that sends images to a video monitor in the operating room that guides doctors during surgery. In eight months, there have been over 100 surgeries performed at Kern Medical using the da Vinci robot.
This event will also present an opportunity for the public to come meet Kern Medical urologic surgeons as well as other prominent surgeons and physicians. There will be live demonstrations with new patient mobility equipment, a new simulation dummy that is used to train physicians, and other technology that is being implemented throughout Kern Medical.
High School Seniors interested in healthcare can pick up an application for the first ever Kern Medical Foundation Scholarship (must attend the event to be eligible for the scholarship).
The workshop is open to the public.
