What:
Kern Medical will hold its 17th Annual Research Forum on May 4, 2017. As the community’s only teaching hospital, the event is part of ongoing educational activities for graduate medical education. The forum will highlight research activities of Kern Medical’s residents, fellows and physician faculty, and will recognize special contributions and innovations in the medical field. Research and scholarly activity are requirements of all approved residency-training medical programs at Kern Medical.
“Research is a large and important aspect of an academic institution and we’re proud to be leading the research effort in Kern County that affects healthcare worldwide,” said Dr. Ruby Skinner, chief of the Trauma Department and director of the Surgical Critical Care Unit at Kern Medical. “Kern Medical continues to update and add new service lines, cutting-edge technology and procedures that keep us at the forefront of medical advancement.”
There will be 36 presentations on display from Kern Medical’s Department of Surgery, Emergency Department and Department of Medicine on topics including psychosis, bariatric surgery, sports-related injuries, Bell’s Palsy, dementia, Valley Fever and breast cancer, among others.
