Kern Medical’s Safe Home, Safe Baby program is focused on providing the community of Kern County with educational information and resources to assist parents in providing a Safe Home for their infants. Kern Medical has partnered with the Bakersfield Fire Department to include information on increasing awareness and reducing risk factors of unexplained sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS), as well as scald and burn prevention and fire safety. Resources, such as educational materials, a water temperature card, and a smoke detector are distributed at these classes to assist parents in the community to provide a Safe Home for their babies. Additionally, after attending the Safe Home, Safe Baby program, the attendees receive a free Pack ‘n Play with qualifying attendance.
*The attendee must provide proof of pregnancy or proof of birth for the infant within the last 12 months.
Due to COVID-19, The Safe Home, Safe Baby classes are currently done by having patients drive-up to the front of the building where they are provided with education while remaining in their cars:
Reservations are required for this class and can be made by calling 661-326-2606.
